End of the Year

www.readwritecoach.com

What a year it has been! I wanted to write at the end of the month thanking you for being a part of my life during these last twelve months. As I get older, I'm increasingly convinced that the relationships we form with one another, relationships that can't be tracked on click-open metrics and KPIs, are what really matter.

My Work with Grimké

I could not be more excited about my transition to work for Grimké Seminary earlier this year. I love working with my colleagues; I love working for our students. I genuinely believe that in-context graduate education will change the world. I consider it a profound privilege to be a part of an organization that is at the vanguard of this emerging form of education.

My title is managing editor, but I consider myself more of a swiss army knife kind of employee, hopefully, being of use wherever the seminary needs me. But for the immediate future, be on the lookout for the online journal we'll be launching in early 2022.

Coaching Leaders

It has been a blast coaching this year. As many of you know, I recently earned my ACC from the ICF. I've always wanted to augment my project management skills (PMP) with a coaching credential. It was a credentialing process that started in January and ended in December. Gratefully my client list is full for the first part of the new year, and I'm currently taking potential future clients on a waiting list—a good problem to have.

The Junk Drawer

I have a ton of ideas for what I'd like to write about in 2022. Here is a smattering. Let me know if any of these are interests we share.

  1. Low-tech remote work

  2. Cognitive embodiment

  3. Tacit knowledge

  4. Apprenticeship models of education

  5. Long-hand writing for online journalism

  6. Intermittent fasting

  7. Autophagy

  8. All-in social media strategies (I'm doubling down on Twitter)

  9. Viral concepts of social media participation

  10. Masculinity and leadership development

  11. Systems theory

  12. Christianity, natural theology, and the new Stoicism

  13. Reading great work of Western Civ

  14. Reading war memoirs

  15. Martial arts, guns, 2A, and Jiu-Jitsu

  16. Creative non-fiction in popular Reformed theology

  17. Propaganda and vaccine lunacy

  18. Solzhenitsyn's opinion of modern media

  19. The stand-alone man, technology formed but independent

  20. Generalizing specialists and specializing generalists

  21. Emotional awareness and aggressive masculinity

  22. Weightlifting and anaerobic exercise

  23. University of Virginia football and basketball

  24. Writing some guides for leadership development

That is about it for now.

Merry Christmas to all!

As always, I'd love to hear from you.
